Guide to getting SSW / SSE to work

Just a few things I got from past threads . Its not much but might help .

  • Try a different resolution for gaming 800x600, 1024x768, etc
  • Turn 16 bit on/off, change to 32 bit (found in options of Counter-Strike)


  • System Variables
  • Update your graphics card drivers (Go to they're website ATI or NVidia
  • Update your DirectX, check from Microsoft.
  • Update your Windows with all possible hot fixes.
  • Update or download .net framework
  • Disable your ANTI-VIRUS and firewall (Just to test if it is in fact your AV that's limiting you)
  • Create another Administrator account on your System (maybe corrupted, it happens...)


  • Last Resorts!
  • Reinstall Windows or upgrade to Windows 7 x64 or x86
  • Reinstall your Counter-Strike and/or Steam

well for the part where you get disconnected..

  • UNBIND all of these keys
  • unbind f7
  • unbind f8
  • unbind f9
  • unbind f10
  • unbind f11
  • unbind f12

this is because on Windows 7 SLeep 200 is the best. I am most likely going to incorporate this into the new version of SSW, so you have a Windows 7 tick option for SLEEP 200.

Yeah , maybe you mean , config.cfg ?
Thats to stop AMX MOD from binding your keys ...

Nice tutorial =)

Try to make one thing, before server change map, make your hack PANIC, the .dll is injected but i think game can crash with an wall , or an sky , don't know . :)

Does SSW have a panic key ?
What do you mean ? Re-Injection ??? :?
This is for SSW / SSE not private cheats .

Why is it hard to understand what your talking about ?

Some injection / loading info ive tried that works .
This is for whenever you try to use other loaders to get SSW/SSE to run on your system .

For Vista / WIn7 32 around 200 ms .
For Vista / Win7 64 around 10 - 20 ms . ( Some state 200ms works . )
For Xp I dont know maybe 100 ms.

But this all depends on what is being hooked and how its hooked.

For EAT hooking usually a bit later 100 - 200 ms .
For Jmp based hooking earlier , less than 10 - 40 .

I really dont know what SSW uses ...

yes it would be. You would have to rename the no-steam loader to hl.exe to make it work. But it will work on nonsteam. It even works on CS1.5.

Have tried everything in this guide and as of last STEAM update I can no longer get SSW or SSE to run :(.

Am running Windows 7 Professional x64

worked fine until today's update, now just keeps crashing cs everytime i try and load SSW... "Half Life launcher has stopped working"
